Description

This homemade fresh cranberry orange sauce is a delicious blend of tart cranberries and fragrant orange juice and zest. Perfect for adding a fresh twist to your holiday meals or everyday dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (12 oz) bag fresh cranberries
  • 1 orange (zested and juiced)
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Optional: 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey for extra sweetness

Instructions

  1. Zest the orange peel using a zester or fine grater.
  2. Cut the orange in half and squeeze out the juice to make about 1/2 cup of juice.
  3. In a large pot, combine white sugar, brown sugar, and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Add the orange zest, orange juice, and cranberries to the pot. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The cranberries will begin to pop open.
  5. Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • This sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more maple syrup or honey if desired.
