- 1 box vanilla or chocolate cupcake mix
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup buttercream frosting (store-bought or homemade)
- Red food coloring
- Mini marshmallows (for decoration)
- Colorful chocolate candies (for baubles)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake tin with festive liners.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cupcake mix, softened butter, eggs, and whole milk. Mix until smooth and creamy for about two minutes.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full. Bake for 18-20 minutes until they spring back when touched.
- Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for five minutes before transferring to wire racks. Allow them to cool completely.
- While cooling, divide your buttercream frosting into two bowls; leave one white and color the other red with food coloring.
- Use piping bags to frost half of each cupcake with white frosting and shape the red frosting into Santa hats on top.
- Top each red frosted hat with a mini marshmallow as the pom-pom and sprinkle colorful chocolate candies around as baubles.
