- 1 cup warm whole milk
- 1 1/3 cups cold unsalted butter

Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Add warm milk and stir until a rough dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
- Place in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise for about one hour until doubled in size.
- Prepare a butter block by pounding cold unsalted butter into a square.
- Roll out risen dough into a square, place butter block in the center, and fold corners over butter.
- Roll out dough into a rectangle and fold like a letter; chill for 30 minutes.
- Repeat the rolling and folding process two more times with chilling in between.
- Roll final dough out to cut triangles; shape into croissants and proof for one hour.
- Brush with beaten egg and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
