Crispy Chilli Chicken Recipe – Spicy, Crunchy, and Better Than Takeout


Ingredients

  • 500 g boneless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil, for frying
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chilli sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water
  • Sliced green onions
  • Sesame seeds
  • Fresh red chillies, sliced

Instructions

  1. Combine chicken, egg, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder in a bowl. Add cornstarch and flour and mix until evenly coated.
  2. Heat oil in a deep skillet. Fry chicken in batches for 4–5 minutes until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant. Add soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, chilli sauce, ketchup, sugar, and water. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens and turns glossy.
  5. Add fried chicken to the sauce and toss until fully coated.
  6. Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and red chillies. Serve hot.
