Crispy Chilli Chicken Recipe – Spicy, Crunchy, and Better Than Takeout
Ingredients

- 500 g boneless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Salt, to taste
- Oil, for frying
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce
- 1 tablespoon chilli sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water
- Sliced green onions
- Sesame seeds
- Fresh red chillies, sliced
Instructions
- Combine chicken, egg, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder in a bowl. Add cornstarch and flour and mix until evenly coated.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet. Fry chicken in batches for 4–5 minutes until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- Heat oil in a pan, sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant. Add soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, chilli sauce, ketchup, sugar, and water. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens and turns glossy.
- Add fried chicken to the sauce and toss until fully coated.
- Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and red chillies. Serve hot.
