Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup Buffalo hot sauce (Frank’s RedHot)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave nectar
  • Celery sticks, carrot sticks, and ranch or blue cheese dressing.

Instructions

  1. Place the extra-firm tofu in the freezer in its original packaging for at least 24 hours before you plan to cook.
  2. Wrap the thawed tofu in a clean towel and press it under a heavy skillet for 20 minutes to remove all moisture.
  3. Tear the block into irregular, bite-sized chunks.
  4. Toss the torn tofu pieces into a mixture of cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Arrange the tofu in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet and drizzle with vegetable oil. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 25 to 30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  6. While the tofu bakes, combine the Buffalo hot sauce, melted butter, and honey in a small bowl.
  7. Put the hot, baked tofu into a large bowl and pour the buffalo glaze over the top. Toss them quickly and serve immediately.
  8. Plate the buffalo tofu wings alongside cold celery and carrot sticks.
