Description
Enjoy this Crispy Air Fryer Walleye, a healthier and flavorful take on fried fish, perfect for dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb walleye (Fresh fillets give the best taste and texture.)
- 1 each egg (Acts as a binder.)
- 0.25 cup panko breadcrumbs (Provides a light, crunchy texture.)
- 0.25 cup parmesan (Finely grated for cheesy goodness.)
- 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder (Adds depth and warmth.)
- 0.25 teaspoon onion powder (Balances the spices.)
- 0.25 teaspoon paprika (Brings a hint of color.)
- 0.25 teaspoon salt (Enhances flavors.)
- 0.25 teaspoon pepper (Adds a touch of heat.)
- 1 each lemon (Fresh squeeze of juice adds zing.)
Instructions
- Thaw and Prepare: If your walleye is frozen, make sure to thaw it completely. Cut the skin off the fillets if necessary and slice them in half for even cooking and ease of serving.
- Dry the Fillets: Pat the fillets dry with a paper towel on both sides to ensure the coating adheres.
- Whisk the Egg: Crack the egg into a shallow bowl and whisk it until frothy. This will serve as a binder for the crust.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the parmesan, panko, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Coat the Fillets: Dip each fillet into the egg wash, then transfer to the breadcrumb mixture, pressing to ensure it sticks. Repeat with remaining fillets.
- Air Fry the Fish: Place coated fillets in the air fryer basket spaced 1 inch apart. Air fry at 400°F for 6 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve with Lemon: Remove fillets from the air fryer, top with a squeeze of lemon juice before serving.
