Description

A hearty and comforting breakfast casserole featuring layers of flaky crescent roll dough, savory sausage, fluffy eggs, and melted cheddar cheese. This easy-to-make dish is perfect for weekend brunches or holiday mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Break it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain excess grease.
  3. Open the crescent roll dough and press it evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  4. Spread the cooked sausage crumbles over the crescent roll layer.
  5. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and onion powder until well combined and smooth.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the sausage layer.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the top of the casserole.
  8. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
  9. Let the crescent roll breakfast casserole cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

  • For a spicier casserole, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the egg mixture.
  • Consider adding chopped bell peppers or onions with the sausage for extra flavor and texture.
  • Turkey sausage or crumbled bacon can be substituted for breakfast sausage.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
