- 1 cup uncooked orzo pasta
- 1 can (14.5 oz) fire-roasted diced tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion until translucent, then add garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Add ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning until browned.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes (with juice) and simmer for about five minutes.
- Add uncooked orzo and two cups of water (or broth). Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for about ten minutes until the orzo is tender.
- Stir in heavy cream and fresh basil until well combined. Serve immediately.
