  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon (crumbled) or 1/2 cup cooked broccoli florets (for a veggie option)
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (for garnish)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.
  2. Add the macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  4. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until golden, creating a roux.
  5. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses until melted and smooth.
  7. Add garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper to taste.
  8. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the cheese sauce.
  9. Fold in the crumbled bacon (or broccoli) and diced tomatoes. Mix well to combine.
  10. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
