- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded cheddar, chopped green onions, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Scoop the mixture and roll into small bite-sized balls. Chill them for 20 minutes to firm up.
- Set up a breading station with three bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for breadcrumbs.
- Roll each cheese ball in flour, then dip into the eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- For frying: heat oil to 350°F and fry the poppers in small batches until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.
- For baking: place on a parchment-lined tray and bake at 400°F for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway through.
