Description

The Best Cranberry Apple Crisp Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Filling
  • 4 cups apples (peeled, cored, and sliced; about 45 medium apples)
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust based on sweetness of apples)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for thickening)
  • For the Crisp Topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, cranberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and flour. Toss until the fruit is well coated.
  3. Pour the fruit mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Evenly sprinkle the crisp topping over the fruit filling in the baking dish.
  7. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.
  9. Serve warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat!
