- 6 slices of day-old bread (white, brioche, or challah)
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
- Butter, for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
- Tear the bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the wet mixture over the torn bread, gently stirring to ensure all pieces are soaked.
- If using, fold in the raisins or chocolate chips for added flavor.
- Pour the bread mixture into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
