Description

Comforting Ground Beef and Dumplings for Two is a cozy, home-style meal featuring savory ground beef simmered in a rich, flavorful sauce and topped with soft, fluffy dumplings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1/4 cup frozen peas or carrots
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add onion and cook 3–4 minutes until soft. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Sprinkle flour over beef and stir. Slowly add beef broth and milk, stirring until smooth. Add thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter just until combined.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough over simmering beef. Cover, reduce heat to low, and cook 12–15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  6. Remove from heat, rest 2–3 minutes, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve warm.
