Description

Make a batch of classic pancakes for breakfast. This recipe makes thick and fluffy pancakes with simple pantry ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, add flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk to remove clumps.
  2. Add egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. Let the finished batter sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Heat up a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat.
  4. Melt a small pat of butter into the pan. Wipe out the pan to prevent leftover butter from burning.
  5. Measure about ⅓ cup of batter into your skillet. Cook until browned on the bottom and bubbles appear in the center.
  6. Flip and cook the second side until lightly browned. Repeat with remaining batter.
  7. Serve pancakes with maple syrup, fresh fruit, or confectioner’s sugar.

Notes

  • Use a non-stick skillet for best results.
  • Let the batter rest for better texture.
  • Adjust cooking time based on your skillet’s heat.
