Description

Cinnamon Sugar Snowball Cookies are buttery, melt-in-your-mouth treats, rolled in a sweet cinnamon-sugar coating. These cookies are simple to make, perfect for the holidays, and sure to be a crowd favorite with their soft texture and delicious flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and powdered sugar together using a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and beat until combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined. If you’re adding nuts, fold in the chopped pecans or walnuts at this point.
  5. The dough should come together easily. If it feels too sticky, you can add a little more flour, a tablespoon at a time.
  6. Using a spoon or cookie scoop, portion the dough into small, 1-inch balls.
  7. Place the dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Gently roll the dough balls between your hands to ensure they are smooth and uniform in size.
  8. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until they are set and lightly golden on the bottom.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. While the cookies are cooling, prepare the cinnamon sugar coating by combining the granulated sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  11. Once the cookies have cooled slightly, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture, ensuring they are fully coated. The warmth from the cookies will help the cinnamon sugar stick.
  12. Allow the cookies to cool completely before serving or storing.
