Ingredients
Scale
- For the Cinnamon Knots
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg (lightly beaten)
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- For the Cinnamon Filling
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- For the Coffee Icing
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons brewed coffee (cooled)
- 1 tablespoon milk (adjust for consistency)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, salt, baking powder, and ground cinnamon.
- In another bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
- On a floured surface, roll the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Evenly spread the cinnamon filling over the dough rectangle.
- Cut the dough into strips (about 1 inch wide). Take each strip and twist it into a knot, tucking the ends underneath. Place the knots on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, brewed coffee, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if necessary.
- Once the knots have cooled slightly, drizzle the coffee icing over the top.
- Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy your delicious Cinnamon Knots with Coffee Icing!
Notes
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container.
