  • ½ cup Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup Semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons Heavy cream (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: Warm the milk to about 110°F (43°C). In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Make the dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare the filling: In a small bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter until a paste forms.
  6. Assemble the rolls: Punch down the risen dough. Roll it out into a large rectangle (about 12×18 inches). Spread the chocolate cinnamon filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border. Sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  7. Roll and slice: Tightly roll up the dough from the long side. Slice the roll into 12 equal pieces.
  8. Second rise: Place the sliced chocolate cinnamon rolls cut-side up in a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  9. Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Make the glaze: While the rolls bake, whisk together the powdered sugar and heavy cream until smooth.
  11. Glaze and serve: Let the chocolate cinnamon rolls cool slightly, then drizzle with the glaze. Serve warm.
