Description
A delightful and rich chocolate chip bread pudding that combines soft bread with creamy custard and chocolate.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups of day-old bread, cubed (French bread or brioche works well)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
- In a large bowl, add the cubed bread and set aside to allow it to dry out slightly.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the custard mixture over the cubed bread. Gently fold the mixture to ensure all the bread is soaked.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips, distributing them evenly throughout the mixture.
- Pour the bread and custard mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the pudding is set and the top is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.
- If desired, dust the top with powdered sugar for an elegant finish.
Notes
