Description

Chicken Wontons in Spicy Chili Sauce: A Flavorful Delight

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken: For the filling.
  • 1/4 cup green onions: Chopped.
  • 2 cloves garlic: Minced.
  • 1 tablespoon ginger: Grated.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce: For seasoning.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil: For flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon salt: To taste.
  • 1 package wonton wrappers: (about 2430 wrappers).
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce: For the base.
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar: For acidity.
  • 2 tablespoons chili paste or sauce: Adjust based on spice preference.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar: To balance the heat.
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil: For flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic: Minced.
  • 1 teaspoon ginger: Grated.
  • 1 tablespoon water: To thin the sauce if needed.

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine 1 lb of ground chicken, 1/4 cup of chopped green onions, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of grated ginger, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Mix until well combined.
  2. Lay out a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Place about 1 teaspoon of the chicken filling in the center of each wrapper.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water. Fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, pressing out any air. Seal the edges tightly. You can also fold the corners of the triangle towards the center for a more decorative shape if desired.
  4. Continue filling and sealing the remaining wonton wrappers until all the filling is used.
  5. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Gently add the wontons and cook for about 4-5 minutes, or until they float to the surface and are cooked through. Alternatively, you can steam the wontons for about 8-10 minutes until cooked.
  6. Use a slotted spoon to remove the wontons from the water and drain them on a paper towel.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar, 2 tablespoons of chili paste, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of grated ginger, and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil. Adjust the chili paste based on your desired spice level.
  8. If the sauce is too thick, add 1 tablespoon of water to thin it out.
  9. Arrange the cooked wontons on a serving platter.
  10. Drizzle the spicy chili sauce over the wontons or serve it on the side for dipping.
  11. Garnish with additional chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
