- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 4 slices of ham (preferably Swiss or honey ham)
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko for extra crunch)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- ½ cup butter (for frying)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking.
- Prepare Chicken: Place each chicken breast between two pieces of plastic wrap. Use a meat mallet to pound the chicken to about ½ inch thickness.
- Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley.
- Lay one slice of ham and one slice of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast. Roll the chicken tightly, starting from the narrow end, and secure with toothpicks.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
- Dredge each chicken roll in flour, dip it into the beaten eggs, and then coat it with breadcrumbs, ensuring an even layer.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chicken rolls and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Transfer the browned chicken rolls to a baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
- In a saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a roux and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually add the milk while whisking continuously until the mixture thickens.
- Stir in the shredded Swiss cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using). Continue to stir until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Once the chicken is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Remove toothpicks and slice the chicken rolls. Serve with the Swiss cheese sauce drizzled on top.

- For extra flavor, you can add herbs to the breadcrumb mixture.
