- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until beef is browned and onion is soft.
- Drain excess fat, then season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Stir in cream of mushroom soup and sour cream until combined. Simmer for 2 minutes.
- Spread the beef mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Top evenly with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese.
- Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 35–40 minutes, until tater tots are golden and filling is bubbling.
- Optionally broil for 2–3 minutes at the end for extra crispiness.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
