Description

Cheesesteak Tortellini in Creamy Provolone Sauce is a delicious dish that combines tender steak and cheesy tortellini in a rich sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces cheese tortellini (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 pound sirloin steak (thinly sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup onion (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper (sliced, any color)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup provolone cheese (shredded)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
  • Substitution Suggestions
  • Steak: Substitute with chicken or turkey for a lighter option.
  • Cream: Use half-and-half or a dairy-free alternative for a healthier version.
  • Cheese: Mozzarella or cheddar can replace provolone if needed.

Instructions

  1. In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the cheese tortellini according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the thinly sliced sirloin steak to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the steak is browned and cooked through.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium and pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine. Gradually add the shredded provolone cheese, stirring continuously until melted and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Add the cooked tortellini to the skillet, tossing gently to coat in the creamy sauce. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
