- 2 ounces butter (about 70 g), melted
- 4.5 ounces all-purpose flour (about 120 g)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (for the dough)
- 3 fluid ounces water (about 90 ml)
- 3.5 ounces cheese (about 100 g), grated
- Extra butter (for brushing and frying)
Instructions
- Melt the butter and set it aside.
- In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the melted butter and water to the dry ingredients.
- Mix everything together until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough by hand until smooth.
- Divide the dough into 3 equal parts.
- Roll each portion into a ball and keep them covered so they don’t dry out.
- Grate the cheese and set it aside.
- Roll each dough ball out thinly.
- Brush the surface with melted butter.
- Sprinkle grated cheese over the dough.
- Fold the dough to enclose the cheese inside.
- Repeat the same steps with the remaining dough portions.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little butter.
- Place the prepared bread into the skillet.
- Brush the top with butter.
- Cook until the bread puffs up and turns golden brown on one side.
- Flip it over and cook the other side until golden brown as well.
- Remove from the skillet and serve warm.
