  • For the Caramelized Bananas:
  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Cook the Oatmeal: Boil water or milk in a medium saucepan. Add rolled oats and salt. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until oats are soft and have absorbed most of the liquid. If using, stir in cinnamon and maple syrup or honey for additional sweetness. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Caramelize the Bananas: In a separate skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar and let it melt for about 1 minute. Add sliced bananas to the skillet, cooking for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown and slightly softened. Stir gently to coat bananas in the caramel sauce. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  3. Assemble and Serve: Divide the cooked oatmeal into bowls. Spoon the caramelized bananas over the oatmeal. If desired, drizzle additional caramel sauce over the top. Serve warm.
