- 4 ounces milk or dark chocolate, chopped
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 cup chopped milk or dark chocolate
- 1 1/2 sticks (12 tablespoons) unsalted butter
- 2/3 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups raw pecans
- 2 tablespoons bourbon (optional)
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and chopped chocolate. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until melted and smooth.
- Whisk in the granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs until smooth. Fold in cocoa powder, flour, and kosher salt until just incorporated. Stir in chopped chocolate pieces.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 25-30 minutes until set. Let cool completely.
- Preheat oven to 350°F again. In a medium saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter with heavy cream and brown sugar. Boil for one minute until sugar dissolves. Chill mixture for 15-20 minutes.
- On a baking sheet, combine raw pecans, bourbon, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Toast in the oven for 10-15 minutes until golden. Let cool and chop.
- Mix in the chilled butter-cream mixture with remaining butter, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, and powdered sugar. Beat until smooth. Fold in half of the chopped pecans.
- Spread frosting over cooled brownies. Sprinkle remaining pecans on top. Slice and serve or store in an airtight container.
