- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup plain yogurt, for marinating

- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes, for the sauce base
- 1 teaspoon sugar, to balance acidity
- 1 cup heavy cream, for creaminess
- 1 teaspoon garam masala, for flavor
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder, for heat (optional)
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, turmeric powder, chili powder, cumin powder, and salt.
- Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil and butter over medium heat.
- Add the marinated chicken and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the chicken and set aside.
- In the same pan, add chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until soft.
- Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes and add sugar. Stir well and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- For a smoother sauce, blend the mixture until smooth.
- Return the cooked chicken to the pan with the tomato sauce.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream, garam masala, and chili powder. Simmer for another 5-10 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
- Serve hot with naan, roti, or steamed basmati rice.
