Description
Brown Butter Toffee Bread Pudding is a rich and luscious dessert made with cubed bread soaked in a sweet custard and topped with toffee bits.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 8 cups day-old bread (such as challah or brioche), cut into cubes
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 4 cups whole milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup toffee bits (plus extra for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Cook until the butter turns golden brown and smells nutty. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and toffee bits. Pour the browned butter over the bread and toss to coat evenly.
- In another bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread and toffee bits. Gently fold to ensure the bread is evenly soaked.
- Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish, pressing down slightly to ensure the bread is submerged.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 15-20 minutes before serving.
- Sprinkle extra toffee bits on top for added texture and sweetness.
Notes
- Use day-old bread for the best texture.
