Description
This Black Forest Trifle for Christmas is an easy, no-bake dessert featuring layers of rich chocolate cake, tart cherry pie filling, and fluffy whipped cream.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (9×13-inch) pan of store-bought chocolate cake (or homemade, cooled and cubed)
- 2 cups cherry pie filling (canned or homemade)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chocolate shavings (or mini chocolate chips)
- Optional: 2 tbsp cherry liqueur (like kirsch) or cherry juice
Instructions
- Cube or crumble the chocolate cake into bite-sized pieces. If using cherry liqueur, lightly drizzle it over the cake cubes for added flavor.
- In a chilled bowl, whisk the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Layer the trifle starting with cake cubes, followed by cherry pie filling, whipped cream, and chocolate shavings. Repeat the layers, finishing with whipped cream and a generous sprinkle of chocolate shavings on top.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight) to let the flavors meld together.
- Remove from the fridge just before serving and enjoy the festive layers!
