Black Forest Cheesecake Bars A Decadent Dessert

- For the Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs (such as Oreo or chocolate graham crackers)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- For the Cheesecake Filling:
- 16 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- For the Topping:
- 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
- Chocolate shavings (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a medium bowl, combine the chocolate cookie crumbs, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Mix until well combined.
- Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to form an even layer. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
- Add the granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and sour cream. Beat until well combined.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Sift in the cocoa powder and mix until fully incorporated.
- Pour the cheesecake filling over the cooled crust, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly.
- Remove the cheesecake bars from the oven and let them cool in the pan at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until fully chilled and set.
- Once chilled, spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the top of the cheesecake.
- If desired, garnish with chocolate shavings for an extra touch.
- Use a sharp knife to cut the cheesecake into bars. Serve chilled and enjoy!
