Ultimate Beef Lo Mein: Your New Favorite Takeout at Home

- 8 oz lo mein noodles
- 1 lb flank steak (thinly sliced against the grain)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 inch piece of ginger (grated)
- 1 each bell pepper (sliced (any color))
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 cup snap peas
- 1 each carrot (julienned)
- 4 each green onions (chopped)
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

- for garnish sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the lo mein noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and rinse under cold water.
- In a medium bowl, season the sliced flank steak with salt, pepper, and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and let marinate for 15 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat and sear the marinated beef for 2-3 minutes until browned, then set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger, sautéing for 30 seconds.
- Add the sliced bell pepper, broccoli florets, snap peas, and julienned carrot, stir-frying for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet, then add the cooked lo mein noodles, remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil, tossing to coat.
- Pour in the cornstarch mixture and stir well, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat, stir in the chopped green onions, and serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
- Feel free to substitute vegetables based on your preference.
- Adjust sauces according to taste.
- For extra heat, add chili flakes or hot sauce.
