Description

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and instant yeast. Stir until evenly mixed.
  2. Gradually add water and mix until dough forms a sticky, shaggy mass.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add flour as needed to reduce stickiness.
  4. Cover the dough with a clean towel and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a round or oval loaf.
  6. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven inside to heat up.
  7. Transfer dough into the preheated Dutch oven and cover with the lid. Bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the bread is golden brown and crisp.
  9. Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
