- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and instant yeast. Stir until evenly mixed.
- Gradually add water and mix until dough forms a sticky, shaggy mass.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add flour as needed to reduce stickiness.
- Cover the dough with a clean towel and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a round or oval loaf.
- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven inside to heat up.
- Transfer dough into the preheated Dutch oven and cover with the lid. Bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the bread is golden brown and crisp.
- Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
