Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Pour the apple mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  6. Evenly sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples.
  7. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.
