Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup finely diced apples
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in cheddar cheese and diced apples.
  5. In another bowl, whisk milk and egg. Add to dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  6. Turn dough onto a floured surface. Pat into a 1-inch thick circle.
  7. Cut into wedges and place on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
